Chevrolet designs cars that everyone can drive with ease. To ensure that those with mobility, vision, or hearing challenges can fully appreciate the Chevy experience, Chevrolet engineers have introduced various accessibility features for the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. You can check out these features below:
Every 2024 Chevrolet Traverse has a standard camera system that boosts safety and visibility, so you won’t have to squint at the mirror. All trim levels include a rearview camera and an optional High-Definition Surround Vision camera.
Chevy’s HD Surround Vision camera uses multiple cameras. This gives you a 360-degree, high-res bird’s-eye view of everything around your ride. They are all displayed on the vehicle’s Infotainment screen. It works well at low speeds, making it very helpful for parking and dodging obstacles nearby. It also highlights blind spots, lane markings, other cars, curbs, pedestrians, and anything else in your vicinity.
The system uses four cameras to show a top-down video of your vehicle on the center stack screen. The Traverse has a rear-vision camera, a forward-looking camera in the front grille, and two side-looking cameras on the side mirrors. These cameras help relieve the stress of reversing from tight spots like parking spaces or garages.
When you shift into reverse to back out of a spot or garage, the rear-vision camera kicks in and shows its view on the center display. Once you switch out of reverse, you’ll see the front-camera view next to that overhead image. If something is less than a foot away while moving forward, the system will show the front view until you hit six mph or tap a button on the Infotainment screen. You can also pull up the front-camera view anytime by tapping its icon on the home screen of your center stack display.
Below are some other innovative vision assistance features of the Chevy Traverse:
If you or any of your passengers use wheelchairs, the Chevy Traverse will be perfect for you. It has a large cargo space of 98.2 cubic feet. With the push of a single button, you can fold the second and third-row seats since they have power folding options. The power liftgate is also quite handy. If you have the hands-free model, you can adjust its height and then unfold it with a click or even by simply making a kicking gesture. With the Smart Slide® second-row seats, it is easy to get to the third row.
The Traverse is also perfect for families with little kids. For installing child safety seats, the second-row outboard seats come with two LATCH connector sets. If you have the eight-passenger version, there’s also a tether anchor for the middle seat in that row. Moreover, you’ll find tether anchors for all three seats in the third row. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated this LATCH setup as Acceptable. It received their second-best score, mainly because it’s user-friendly.
